Bloomers in HeatherPeter VoermanShort descriptionThese vignettes hope to recreate an unusual youth in Holland from 1927 through 1947 influenced by an unconventional upbringing by revolutionary Quaker parents. The solid democratic institutions of the consti-tutional monarchy and the entrenched colonial regime of the Holland at that time seem to make that upbringing even more extreme. In addition, the advent of World War Two and the German occupation further add their momentous influence to an already unique situation. Author BioAgain, this is not meant to be a rigidly accurate biographical story as much as a vivid portrayal of conflicts experienced. My gratitude to all people that I have been in touch with in these pages, especially my beloved Iris. They have all helped me to find a deeper understanding of life and myself. |
