“The Stillness of Time” is a selection of poems written between the end of 2009 and 2011 in a variety of poetic styles. Most poems are written in a time of seeking: seeking for truth, myself and, most of all, stillness.

In this time, nature was a great inspirer as I walked in the forest nearby my or my father’s home. Sitting with only a paper and pencil I was listening to the sounds I heard, hoping for a sound that could be put into words. What I found was that these words came only in a moment of stillness, not in the outer world, but in myself. It is my hope that these poems can give you a glimpse of this moment and the stillness that can be found in the “wafer-thin slot between past and future”.

Author Bio

Born in 1989, Pauline van Tol grew up in a small village in the Netherlands. She studied social psychology and modern religion, but she also shared interests in philosophy, spirituality and politics. Being a member of the World Religion Society, she came in contact with various religious believers, who have broadened her perspective on spirituality, life, and herself.
