This book tries to explain the origin of the American comics. From the beginning and the first drawings produced in Germany by Wilhem Busch and Rodolphe Töppfer, the history of comics continues with many other outstanding cartoonists, such as Will Eisner, Rudolph Dirks, Walt Kelly and many others who have created important and much known characters throughout comic history.
The book is completed with a description of the main characters and series appeared in the press in the Twentieth century.
